River Retreat is in a perfect location for fishing holidays, wildlife spotting and watching the boats pass by on their way to and from the River Yare.
One of our original Norfolk Broads lodges, River Retreat has been renovated and refurbished throughout. A great location at the entrance to our small, quiet marina with quay headed moorings for use by our holiday lodge guests only. Tastefully decorated with double french doors leading to the veranda with water views. A peaceful setting and perfect to get into the quieter waters with your own boat, kayak or paddle board. You can moor your own or hired boat directly outside and fishing is possible from your garden!
We highly recommend exploring The Broads from this idyllic spot – Day boat & canoe* hire is available locally, pre booking is advised. *Guests benefit from discounted rates on canoe hire.
Located in the village of Brundall, the centre for boat building and boat hire, which has its own railway station, shop/post office, mini-market, hairdresser, Chinese takeaway, fish and chip shop, Indian restaurant, café & bakery and local pubs serving good food.
With the train station less than half a mile away you can visit beautiful Norwich for shopping, sightseeing and history or Great Yarmouth for an ice-cream on the beach and family friendly fun at the Pleasure Beach with its rides and amusements.
Exploring the Norfolk countryside and coastline is easy by car with quaint towns, villages and wide sandy beaches close by as well as family attractions a stone’s throw away. River Retreat is a great choice for all and we know that you will love our Norfolk Broads lodges. Please see our information page for many other local attractions to make your holiday on the Norfolk Broads perfect.

Posted on jayne martin We had a wonderful week at River View. The weather wasn’t great and the fishing was really hard, but that’s river fishing for you, very unpredictable. We sat every day at the bottom of the garden being very comfortable with the fishing set up, more than enough room for two people, and we have a lot of gear between us! The dogs loved it too although we did take a 12 meter roll of fencing and some stakes so they couldn’t get near the water’s edge. It worked so well we were asked by both sets of neighbours where we got it from! They just happily played and slept whilst we fished. The accommodation is wonderful, very spacious and immaculately clean. We took two cheap king size fitted sheets from Asda to put over the sofas to protect them from dog hairs so we didn’t have to worry if they got on them whilst we were fishing, The view was amazing. We also appreciated the shed and bait fridge, and loved being able to drive onto the property, and have room to turn around the car, plus once the gates were shut, you felt very secure. You could easily park four cars there. All in all one of the cleanest and nicest properties we have stayed in, especially when you consider it is dog friendly. NHL deserve all the praise they get.Posted on jayne martin We had a wonderful week at River View. Spotless, fab fixtures and fittings. Amazing management by Tina who went above and beyond to make us all welcome. It was Halloween so lots of little extra touches, dressing up for our grandchildren & providing treats for them & our dogs. Cafe & pub on site. Station a short walk allowing easy access to Norwich, Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft. Fishing for the family from the huge outside deck. We've already booked 2 more breaks. Another return visit fab as always. 🥰Posted on Jane Moore Wow what a fantastic Lodge. Spotless, fab fixtures and fittings. Amazing management by Tina who went above and beyond to make us all welcome. From the moment we arrived, we relaxed and got into 'holiday mode'. The lodge was extremely clean and we received a warm welcome from Tina. We enjoyed being alongside the water and seeing the ducks and the heron who were regular visitors. From the lodge, you can also see the boats heading out to the river from the marina which we enjoyed. The lodge was very well-appointed with everything you could want. I had taken tea towels, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid but didn't need to as it was all provided. We were a party of 6 adults and found that we had plenty of space to relax. The veranda area and garden were also great to use with plenty of seating. We visited the pub near the railway station on a few occasions over the weekend for both drinks and food. It was perfect to walk to and meant that we didn't have to drive anywhere all weekend. The food was great. Brundall has a couple of Co-op stores which we used along with other amenities. It was a wonderful weekend and the perfect backdrop for our family celebrations- thank you!Posted on maxine woods Last weekend we stayed in River Breeze lodge to celebrate my mum's 80th birthday. This place truly was home from home. Fishing was great, lots of tiddlers but some failed opportunities of pike and large bream straight from the decking! Good range of garden furniture including sun loungers which were lovely for soaking up the atmosphere. A broad is very close by and easily reached by water, so do bring your SUP/canoe/kayak. Tina was extremely responsive throughout our booking and our stay. A great stay and thoroughly enjoyed it.Posted on Christine Hiskey What a wonderful place Ferry Lodge is, a great position on the river Yare with a lovely view of the country pub, on the other side of the river (you'll need your own transport to get across the river or around a 1 hr journey by car), passing boats and great evening sunsets.
